It is not easy to grow a kousa type as a standard form but this delightful small garden tree lends itself to be grown with a single trunk and a dominant central leader.
Raised by Dr Elwin Orton at Rutgers University New Jersey in the late 1980s for its vigour and disease resistance.
The glossy leaves of this rounded tree turn a rich crimson-bronze in autumn.
