This small tree is very silimar in most respects to C. monogyna but has double white flowers.
It is worth remembering that while hawthorns are often seen as hedgerow trees they also make fine garden trees – and this is one of the best.
A good choice for urban and coastal planting it is also tolerant of air pollution.
It does well in most soils including very dry and wet soils.
Originating back to the 1770s many classify this as Crataegus laevigata Alba plena but the differences are too close to call and as both are derivatives of native trees, we choose to place it here.
