Description
Thought to be a cross between Fagus sylvatica Quercifolia and Purpurea this extremely pretty tree is relatively rare but highly prized.
Introduced in the mid 1890s we only ever have a few to sell every year so if you wanted one for your collection it would be best to reserve in good time!

Beech thrives just about anywhere other than exposed and coastal locations.
As it is shallow rooted under planting is not recommended.
It does well in most reasonably fertile well drained soils except heavy clay or light sand.
