Description

Halesia Carolina is known as Silverbell in its native USA. It makes a small garden tree in the UK with profuse white bell like single flowers in the late spring that later develop into yellowish four winged fruits by the autumn.

Sometimes grown as a shrub, ours are produced on a single stem to make a tree with an ultimate height of between seven and nine metres.

It doesn’t favour alkaline soils and forms a rounded to broad canopy at maturity. Best planted in free draining gardens or included within an ornamental woodland area with good access to light level.

Mature height: 7-12m

Mature spread: 5-7m
