A fast growing form of Sweet Gum introduced from China in the 1980s.
Its three lobed leaves and general habit are very similar to Liquidambar formosana but it is much hardier and it grows with a tough vigour.
most other Sweet Gum clones it is better known for its spring and summer foliage effect than its autumn colour.
Of pyramidal form and medium height it produces bronze-purple foliage that is retained with flushing new growth throughout the growing season.
It turns to yellow in autumn and leaves are often retained until well into winter.
