Unlike most other Sweet Gums this clone often bears fruit in British conditions.
A winner of the Award of Garden Merit in both 1987 and 2002 this is our favoured clone of Liquidambar for both autumn colour and form.
I have one thriving in my garden on a very thin and slightly alkaline soil.
Its foliage is delightful and more deeply lobed than other clones and its pyramidal habit is both reliable and architecturally pleasing.
However its real beauty lies in its autumn colour starting in September when some leaves turn yellow through to orange before falling but the outermost leaves gradually turn to magnificent claret red.
A great tree for any urban aspect where space allows.
Mature height: 12-17m
Mature spread: 10-15m
