Description
This very upright form tends to flower earlier than its parent and we regularly see a decent floral display on 12-14cm girth crop.
Like fastigiate hornbeam it can be prone to a bit of middle aged spread so allow for a bit more room around it at planting than you think.
Its stiffly ascending branches are very effective if kept as a feathered tree eventually competing with the leader to become a fat tear drop shape at maturity.
It is good as a specimen or as an avenue tree and thrives in most fertile soils.
Mature height: 7-12m
Mature spread: 4-6m
