This rosy tinged cooking apple has been eclipsed in popularity by Bramley Seeding but should not be overlooked! For those of you who can take a sharp taste, this apple can be enjoyed straight from the tree as well as being the basis for pies, crumbles and juices.
Introduced in the early 1900s, this apple is best planted with a Malus John Downie or Evereste to enhance pollination if no other Malus are within sight. It thrives on most soils and produces a lovely floral display in the spring.
The apples are generally ready from August onwards and are suitable to store.
If you live in an area prone to rabbits or deer then we recommend rabbit guards for these trees.
