Description
Native of Western China and introduced into the UK back in 1902, this evergreen tree produces fragrant flowers in the autumn. Its thick dark evergreen leaves are excellent for screening and it grows happily in shade or sun.
It thrives in most free draining soils and as it is such a small tree it can be planted very close to a house without any worry about disturbing foundations or compromising building regulations.
Although hardy enough for Southern and middle England, winters in the rest of the UK may prove too much for it to endure.
Mature height: 3-5m
