Description

The Stone Pine is sometimes also known as the Umbrella Pine.

Its seeds which when roasted are an essential ingredient of the well known Italian pesto sauce.

Unlike other Pines we grow this one is produced as a half standard or standard tree with a well developed rounded crown.

A distinct and rather picturesque medium tree this Pine does well in coastal locations and on light sandy soils.

Its bark is gorgeously craggy flaking off easily when disturbed.

A native of the Mediterranean it won the Award of Garden Merit in 2002.
