The Black Poplar a native of Europe and Western Asia is rarely found these days.
We have been involved with a project to propagate native Black Poplar from both male and female trees in Essex.
Cultivated for a long time and prized for its timber this makes a large rounded and heavy-branched tree characterised by its burred trunk and glabrous twigs.
Very good for parks and woodland.
