For fresh cherries straight off the tree this one is hard to beat! Lush black fruits are produced by August and their tough shiny skins make them resistant to splitting when growing in summer rain. White flowers in the spring add to the garden interest.
It will thrive on most free draining soils but benefits greatly from a fertilizer in the spring and a one metre mulch strip around the stem to keep other plant completion at bay. With no VAT on edible fruit trees, if you like cherries look no further! Combine with Prunus Early Rivers to get early and late fruit.
Mature height: 3-7m
Mature spread: 2-4m
