This wonderful double flowering version of our native Wild Cherry has been in cultivation since the early 1700s and is still a favourite today.
Its mass of double white flowers are absolutely superb when in full swing.
Although it is best suited to parkland / woodland planting it is also a very useful urban tree coping well with reflected heat and light bouncing back from hard surfaces.
It often retains a strong apically dominant leader making the trunk easy to crown lift over time.
Given the right conditions the autumn foliage can also be glorious and like most cherries it thrives on most free draining soils.
Mature height: 7-12m
Mature spread: 5-8m
