Portugal Laurel is widely used for hedging but also makes a fine specimen tree if required.
It is prettier than common laurel with red stems and narrower leaves but it is just as durable.
White flowers in the spring are an added bonus. We offer them as half-standards and bush form for hedging
Grown as a tree it remains small and has a good rounded habit and it does well on most soils including shallow chalk. A general purpose fertilizer can be added in the spring to benefit leaf colour and plant vitality.
Very attractive as a hedge giving year-round interest and cover to many small birds.
Mature height: 3-5m
Mature spread: 3-4m
