Description

One of our two native Oaks the Sessile Oak is long-lived and was extensively used in ship-building.

A winner of the Award of Garden Merit in 2002 it is more often seen on the west side of the UK where rainfall is higher.

A good choice for coastal locations this large oval shaped tree will also tolerate acid soils.

Similar in many respects to Quercus robur it tends to have a greater degree of apical dominance so developing a more pyramidal crown.

A wonderful choice for wildlife this tree supports a host of animals. Acorns mature by early autumn.
