Product details

The Styphnolobium japonicum 'Regent', known as the Japanese Pagoda Tree, brings a sophisticated elegance to any garden or landscape. Not only is it celebrated for its beautiful, feathery foliage, but its leaves and flowers are also traditionally used to make herbal tea in China, adding a unique cultural aspect to its appeal.

This fast-growing deciduous tree develops a broad, rounded canopy of fine, dark green compound leaves that offer dappled shade throughout the summer. Come autumn, the foliage transforms to a soft yellow before falling, leaving an attractive winter silhouette. The tree's delicate, glossy leaves emerge late in the spring, typically in May, which makes it an excellent choice for extending seasonal interest.

In late summer, the Japanese Pagoda Tree delights with fragrant, creamy-white flowers hanging in showy clusters up to 30 cm long. These blossoms appear earlier than on other varieties, sometimes as soon as five years, adding ornamental appeal with their subtle, drooping beauty. Following the bloom, elegant green pods form, turning a rich brown and persisting into winter, adding texture and interest even after the leaves have fallen.

Mature height: 10-15m
