Description

Some list this as ‘Embley’ and some as ‘commixta’ but we hedge our bets and classify it as one as there is no discernable difference to the vast majority.

Originating from Korea and Japan it was introduced in the early 1880s and won the Award of Merit in 1979.

This small tree of broadly columnar habit is tolerant of most soils and makes a fine choice for garden planting.

In autumn its glorious foliage and bright red berries makes it stand out from the rest.

Its young trunk is light brown and speckled. Fluffy bunches of small white flowers are produced in the spring.

Mature height: 3-7m

Mature spread: 4-6m
