Originally discovered as naturally occurring plants in County Fermanagh in 1780, this dense columnar conifer is a great favourite for garden designers wanting to instil formality within a garden. In the Mediterranean they have Cupressus sempervirens, in the UK we have this as it is more suited to our climate.
Thriving on most free draining soils this wonderful evergreen is often seen in churchyards and it requires very little pruning or maintenance. Its dark
green foliage always seems unchanging but is seemingly replaced by subsequent spring flushes. Ideal for small gardens and can be maintained within
only a few metres of buildings without harm.
Mature height: 7-12m
Mature spread: 2-4m
