Description

Toona sinensis ‘Flamingo’ (Chinese Cedar) is a striking deciduous tree, celebrated for its remarkable spring display. Fresh growth emerges in a vivid flush of pink, gradually softening to pale salmon before maturing to lush green by early summer. Hardy to around -10°C, it performs well in most areas of the UK. We offer this beautiful small garden tree as elegant multi-stem specimens.

Thriving in full sun, ‘Flamingo’ is adaptable to a wide range of soils including chalk, loam, and sand. In summer, it produces clusters of delicate white flowers, bringing a refined charm to the garden. Low-maintenance and requiring little pruning, the tree naturally forms a graceful shape. With an eventual height of 8–12m and a spread of 4–8m, it is versatile enough for both compact gardens and larger landscapes.

In East Asia, the pleasantly scented wood is traditionally burned to fragrance the home.

Tolerant of most free-draining soils, Toona sinensis ‘Flamingo’ is truly a spring showstopper, guaranteed to make a statement in any garden.
