Product details
Fraxinus pennsylvanica Summit, commonly known as Green Ash 'Summit,' is a hardy American tree variety introduced from trials in Minnesota in 1957. Known for its rapid growth and resilience, it’s well-suited to urban environments, particularly for streets, avenues, parks, and coastal areas. This tree matures to a height of 12–17 meters, with a crown that begins ovate and gradually rounds with age.
In April, this ash produces subtle yellow-green flowers in small panicles. Through the summer, the leaves stay a rich green before turning a striking yellow in early autumn, after which they drop relatively early. The tree anchors itself with a deep taproot system, giving it excellent stability.
Exceptionally tolerant, this specimen can withstand air pollution, salt spray, strong coastal winds, brief flooding, and, on fertile soil, periods of drought. Although it prefers well-drained, fertile soil, it can withstand periods of drought. Its durability and stunning autumn color make it an ideal choice for urban landscaping and coastal planting.
